Michael Gowdey has been practicing criminal defense and personal injury law since 1992. A graduate of San Diego State University and California Western School of Law, he is licensed to practice law in both Nevada and California and all federal courts across the country, and does criminal defense work all over the southwest. He is a very experienced and aggressive trial lawyer, having successful defended clients in hundreds of case, including more than 30 jury trials, and is considered one of the top criminal defense lawyers in Nevada. In addition to numerous felony jury trial acquittals, Mr. Gowdey has tried and won many DUI, Domestic Battery, theft, solicitation, assault and other misdemeanor trials. He has extensive experience in both State and Federal Courts.

Mr. Gowdey has defended clients in many high profile criminal cases, including State v. Nesmith, a San Diego case in which a Navy Seal was accused of killing his fiance's 3 year old son. Mr. Gowdey and his defense team secured a day of trial dismissal of the murder charge when medical evidence presented to prosecutors proved conclusively that Mr. Gowdey's client could not have been the person to kill the victim. Charges against Mr. Gowdey's client were dismissed, and he walked out of custody a free man.

Mr. Gowdey has also represented clients in a large number of sex crime cases, including State v. Green. Dushon Green is the man accused of being the Flamingo Rapist, alleged to have been the most prolific rapist in Nevada state history; State v. Bergman, in which Mr. Gowdey's client was accused of sexual assault of a 14 year sold girl who was a resident of a facility for troubled youths where he was a counselor; and many other well publicized matters.

Mr. Gowdey is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Nevada Attorneys for Criminal Justice, National Trial Lawyers Association, and the Clark County Bar Association. He has been a legal analyst for several Las Vegas and San Diego news programs, and has been featured in articles in the Las Vegas Review Journal and the San Diego Tribune. He is married with two children.
